Rotary House started in 1977 and was built primarily to house people with any degree of hearing loss. This was often a bridge between leaving home where parents were at hand and living independently.
A member of staff, who is a British Sign Language user, is generally on site during the day, with cover out of hours in case of emergency. During the day assistance can be provided with any needs that you may have, such as dealing with letters, forms, phone calls etc.
We have 15 self contained flats, suitable for one person, comprising of a fitted kitchen, with all basic essentials (fridge, cooker etc.). 7 are studio flats with a shower room, wc and lounge/bedroom, and 8 have been converted so that they have a separate bedroom. Basic furniture can be provided if required. There is a communal T.V. lounge with free Wi-Fi, Sky T.V, pool table and tea/coffee facilities. Events are also held in the lounge and these are free or have a minimal cost to attend.
A laundry room is fully equipped with washing machines, a tumble dryer, ironing-boards and irons. All these services are included within the rents, as are water rates and heating costs. The only extra outlay is Council Tax and electricity bills. All the flats within Rotary House are fitted with flashing doorbells and flashing fire alarms.
We have a large communal garden, with tables, chairs and umbrellas and have recently built a large summerhouse for the use of tenants during the summer.
If required, we can assist with helping you look for work, which could involve looking though local papers, making any necessary phone calls, filling out application forms and organising interpreters for any interviews.
We have a meal and party at Christmas and an occasional barbecue and/or outing in the summer. These are either free or have a minimal charge attached. We have a barbecue here for tenants to use personally if they wish to hold their own private party for their family and friends. We also have a vegetable garden and greenhouse where tenants are able to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
We occasionally have vacancies, so if you are interested please do not hesitate to complete the application form & return it to us. This will be acknowledged and if there are no vacancies, your name will be added to the waiting list. We will contact you regularly to update our records and to see if you still wish to remain on our list.
